Jeffry Schneider, a veteran of the financial services industry, is the Founder of the Austin-based Ascendant Capital, LLC.

Ascendant Capital is a boutique investment firm with an emphasis in the “alternative investments” space.  It identifies hedge, private-equity, and real estate funds that are often not made available to investors.  Once the Ascendant team accomplishes this, they work to develop a range of value-added offerings that are supported by an extensive suite of marketing, sales, operational, and educational services.

Born and raised in Manhattan, Jeffry Schneider is an alumnus of the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, from which he earned a Bachelors of Science. After graduation, Jeffry entered the financial services industry, and has worked for such prestigious firms as Smith Barney, Alex Brown, and Merrill Lynch.  It was while working at these firms that Jeffry first developed his deep knowledge for alternative investments that would serve him well throughout his career.

In 2002, Jeffry joined the Axiom Capital Management team.  While working there, he helped establish relationships with hedge fund managers and performed due diligence on them to ensure they were a proper fit for the varied client base at the firm. In addition, he would work with these alternative investment managers and advise them on how to best structure their investment vehicles.  Two years later, he joined Paradigm Global Advisors.

In 2009, he first founded Ascendant Capital. During the nascent years of Ascendant, he worked heavily with Virtus Real Estate. His efforts were instrumental in raising six different funds, which purchased over $1.5 billion in Real Estate.

Under Jeffry Schneider’s leadership, Ascendant Capital has experienced robust success, recently growing to more than thirty employees in its sixth year of existence. Working on behalf of several managers, Ascendant has raised almost one billion dollars. Jeffry and his team are working hard to continue this upward trajectory, with an anticipated raise of approximately $50 million per month over the course of the next twelve months.

Jeffry Schneider is a dedicated leader, who works tirelessly to bring the best out of his employees and his company as a whole. He demands excellence of himself and those who work for him. Jeffry attributes much of Ascendant Capital’s success to its unique culture, which fosters hard work, trust, and open communication amongst the Ascendant Capital family.

Outside of his career, Jeffry Schneider is committed to living and healthy lifestyle. He has dedicated himself to training for and competing in several half Ironman challenges throughout the years. These grueling races require you to complete a 1.2 mile swim, a 56 mile bicycle ride, and 13.1 mile run.  These competitions have brought Jeffry around the globe as he has competed in such places as Texas, Florida, California, Chile, and Saint Croix. He recognizes that eating right is an absolutely vital component in staying fit, and is committed to educating both himself and others on the pitfalls of the American diet. He is currently training for a half ironman that will take place in Croatia.  Outside of his fitness ventures, he has travelled the world extensively with friends and family. Jeffry considers places such as rural Thailand, and Budapest amongst his favorites. He is also involved with a number of causes, and actively supports Gods Love We Deliver, Wonders and Worries, the Gazelle Foundation, and Camp Honey Creek’s Summer Dream Program, Cherokee Home for Children and several others.

Testimonials

Dear Jeff,

Lately, I’ve been having these intense moments of introspection where I see my life precisely as it is, all the beauty and potential and impossible luck of it.  Because of you, I have this amazing playground where I can practice my craft with a dream-team of friends and colleagues; where I can put all that grad-school theory into an embodied practice; where I can cultivate my legacy and watch it grow beyond me.  And its all your fault.

Working with your team on a now-regular basis has taught me that I am not alone in this.  Virtually everyone I meet from your office has some heroic story about you—a moment in their lives where they were at a crossroads, and through whatever weird magic of timing and generosity, you appeared and fundamentally changed the course of their lives.  I hope they tell you this too.  You’re a beacon, dear friend: a human lighthouse.  You draw the best people to you, and you bring out the best in the best people.  Just wanted you know that your light is not taken for granted.  Thank you for doing you exactly the way you do.

J.
